Are you serious???????
The att with the least use with the least amount of needed skillls and minimal effect is strength. Whoopee 1% armor penetration per point. At 10 strength you get OMFG 4+ seconds on sprint. The only needed skill from strength in PvP.

Expertise is THE.SINGLE.GREATEST.PRIMARY.
No ifs, ands, or buts. No other primary can single handedly make energy not an issue for that class. No other primary attribute can fit into ANY pure build that class uses (It makes ALL pure ranger abilities cost next to nothing - its when you get into secondary classes it starts not working).
If you want my worst primary by opinion..Its Strength. Strength doesn't even do much on its own (a few percent armor pen using skills..) and Tactics has much better skills linked to it.
As for Dodge - It is great for Running (including running from battle).
This and Stormchaser can now make an infinate running situation where half the time your blocking attacks and the other half your gaining energy.

I've been doing running with my ranger using Dodge/Escape/Storm Chaser. Kept in a constant loop, you will never not be running faster. Rangers finally get a change that benefits them.

That is because U R a knucklehead.
This skill allows a ranger to be a front line fighter.
-It is a STANCE that lasts 16 seconds at 14 expertise. 17 sec at 15 expert. 18 sec at 16 expert. That puts to shame all the 75% chance stances of warriors, except bonettis. It also has a 30 sec recharge, instead of 60.
-But it's not just a defensive stance, it's also a sprint at the same time. Booyah!
It allows a trap ranger to be aggressive instead of defensive.
-After your initial traps spring, run up to mobs (with this skill no less) and set up traps as they attack you. BAM! (spoken from experience after completely pwning the titans in mineral springs for DDF just now. My group was blown away by what I was doing with traps because of this skill. Needless to say, I made most of them see Rangers in a new light.)
|
In your two examples, you could have just as easily subb'ed in Whirling Defense (same thing minus running, and twice the recharge), and not wasted the elite slot (which for trappers IS going to be filled with Oath or Spike).
Thats why alot of people think its a "waste of an elite" but they are only thinking fo your examples.
Escape is nice when you dont really want/need another elite. If I'm not going to need another elite for what i'm doing - I'll run it. Which (pun intended) is usually when i plan to be running alot.

Add in Serpent's Quickness and you're basically The Flash. A R/Mo carrying those and healing skills while holding an item with a big energy boost and you can run to anywhere.

Why add in quicker recharge?
Escape has a 15-16 sec duration at good expertise, and storm chaser has like 17-18 at a good Wilderness.
So..As one ends, The other is already recharged and ready to go.
You dont even need dodge in there.

Yeah, if your build already leans toward Oath Shot, like trapping does, Whirling WAY outclesses this one.
Otherwise, this isn't a half-bad skill anymore. I might start carrying it as my defensive move for general purpose Rangering, since I typically didn't have an elite I cared about.

I don't bother with that, because unless you cast another sprint by accident, you will never be out of speed.
I carry a Morgriff's Staff when I run. Since I'm only using the sprint skills, I'm guaranteed a recharge on 1 out of 10 as I use them.

Ditto.
Poison Arrow just feels wasted in most PvE areas - and Quickshot gets boring, just spamming that with Savage/etc.
Everything else just has too specific a use to warrent general ranger PvE use.
So Escape Ahoy!.
People give Escape too much of a hard time - I've NEVER regreted capping it.

Escape is good for flag runners - speed + defense - you can pass threw the fray and place the flag. Many stances got only defence OR speed. Fast recharge and good duration.

expertise and escape and profesions
escape is awesome use escape, storm chaser, dodge, lightning reflexes, whirling defenses, serpents quickness , troll unguent and for running u wont need to worry.
And i have one question in expertise it says it lowers the mp of trap skills but i have expertise in 10 but does it actually work? Does it really lower energy cost because im not seing any difference .
something that would help the game would be : they should change it from 4 characters to 6 and they should add like 2 new profesions and something to make it more interesting i dont know like adding rogue, ninja, thief, dragoon, samurai . It would make better the game because after u have already used all profesions theres nothing new to do but get skills. Does somebody think this is a good idea for the game ?
